Rhonda's BEANS AND HAM

I confess, I love beans, fried potatoes, and cornbread. When I was a kid my mom and dad made the BEST! While I was at the store today, I decided this was the supper I needed. So I bought the ingredients and plan on having one of my favorites tonight!

This is a picture of my brother, Marty McConnell's
Country Supper, as he likes to call it,
I just call it Supper.
Beans and Ham
8 cups water
8 oz. red kidney beans
8 oz. pinto beans
2 cups cubed ham
1/2 cup onion, chopped
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper

In large pot, bring water and beans to a boil; boil 2 minutes. Remove from heat, cover, and let stand 1 hour. Stir in ham, onion, onion powder, salt and pepper. Bring to a boil; reduce heat, cover, and simmer until beans are tender about 2 hours. Add water as necessary. Serve with cornbread. I cheat and use Jiffy corn bread mix. Serves 6.
